Background of the Mural:
The “Menuai Kitai” mural is part of the Tanah Airku 3.0 street art project and depicts four children representing the major communities of Sarawak — Malay, Dayak, Chinese and Indian. The children are presented together to symbolise the multicultural society and unity that exists in Sarawak.

The title “Menuai Kitai” refers to the idea of harvesting together, reflecting the importance of community cooperation and togetherness. Harvesting, particularly rice harvesting, has long been connected with the traditional lifestyles and cultural practices of communities in Sarawak. The theme also relates to the spirit of celebrating the fruits of shared effort.

The mural is significant because it uses children from different ethnic backgrounds to communicate a simple message of unity, harmony and cultural diversity. Rather than focusing on one particular community, the artwork represents Sarawak as a place where different cultures live and grow together.

Located at The Marian Boutique Lodging House in the historic Kuching area, the mural also contributes to the city's street-art and heritage landscape. It provides visitors with an attractive visual representation of Sarawak's multicultural identity while encouraging appreciation of the values of togetherness, diversity and community.
